A VOICE FOR YOU

Healthcare

Access to Healthcare

Our access to healthcare in Egmont is next to nonexistent. Our frontline staff are overworked and take the brunt of a clearly broken system. We’ve heard time and time again that healthcare is a provincial issue, but the reality is it’s an all-government issue.

Government Responsibility for Healthcare

The federal government distributes funding to the province for service and infrastructure, and it is up to the province to operate and utilize that funding. We have to get to the bottom-line issues: is there not enough funding? Or is the funding being mismanaged? If you were an investor in a company and your ROI was life or death, wouldn’t you want clear answers? Well, you are that investor, you are a taxpayer, and you pay a significant amount of money year over year for proper healthcare. We need answers and we need them fast because at this point, the only thing we know for sure is the system is failing.

Challenges in the Healthcare System

Wait times are ridiculous, access to a doctor is almost impossible, staff are put in vulnerable positions, our technology is outdated, and most importantly, people are not getting the proper help they need.

Advocacy for Change

It’s time we get an advocate for healthcare and fight to change this broken system. I want to be that person, and I will fight tooth and nail to make changes, regardless of the level of government.

Lowering Taxes and Improving Healthcare for Seniors in Egmont

AXE THE CARBON TAX

Canadians shouldn't have to sacrifice their savings just to fuel their vehicles. The carbon tax, touted as a solution, is instead a regressive measure that not only drives up gas prices, making everyday living more expensive, but also fails to effectively curb global emissions. Its impact is felt most acutely in rural communities where transportation costs are already high. Additionally, this tax hike contributes to the offshoring of jobs overseas, further hurting our economy. Moreover, let's not forget its ripple effect on grocery prices, further burdening Canadian households.

As your representative, I am committed to fighting for the interests of Egmont. One of the key steps in this fight is to axe the carbon tax specifically for our community. By removing this burdensome tax, we will alleviate the financial strain on hardworking families, farmers, and small businesses in Egmont. Additionally, axing the carbon tax will help lower the cost of living, including reducing gas prices and grocery expenses, making life more affordable for everyone in our community. I believe in championing policies that support Egmont's prosperity and well-being, and axing the carbon tax is a crucial part of that vision

Supporting Farming and Fishing While Holding the Liberals Accountable for Neglect

Supporting Farming in Egmont: Investing in Modernization

Supporting farming in Egmont requires strategic investments in modernizing agricultural practices and infrastructure. After the Liberal government's inaction on potato wart and other agricultural issues, we need to advocate for targeted investments in our farming sector, empowering our farmers to enhance productivity and build a more prosperous agricultural industry in our region.

Securing the Future of Fisheries: Advocating for Industry Development

The viability of Egmont's fisheries is crucial. Despite the Liberal government's neglect of key fisheries issues, we must prioritize the adoption of effective fishing methods and fight for measures that will ensure the long-term health of our fisheries. This is essential to support the livelihoods of our fishing communities and preserve this vital industry for future generations.

Collaboration for Industry Advancement: Engaging Farmers, Fishers, and Community Leaders

Advancing the interests of Egmont's farming and fishing communities necessitates a collaborative approach. Despite the Liberal government's disappointing inaction, we must engage stakeholders from these industries, community leaders, and policymakers to advocate for tailored initiatives and policies that meet the specific needs of these critical sectors.

Advocating for Egmont's Agricultural and Fishing Communities: A Commitment to Industry Prosperity and Accountability

Egmont requires a dedicated advocate who will not only champion the interests of farming and fishing communities but will also hold the Liberal government accountable for their neglect. I am committed to being that advocate, working to promote policies that bolster the agricultural and maritime sectors in our region while demanding action from the Liberals. By supporting farming and fishing, we can cultivate thriving industries that are vital to the prosperity of Egmont and push for the support that the sector deserves.

Addressing Housing Affordability in Egmont: Urgent Action Required

Over the past years, housing costs in Egmont have skyrocketed, making it increasingly difficult for families to afford homes. Before, it took decades to pay off a mortgage, but now, saving for a down payment alone takes a similar amount of time. This alarming trend has put homeownership out of reach for many in our community. Our situation mirrors that of other Canadian communities, where housing prices have surged, placing significant strain on families' finances.

Building More Homes in Egmont: Confronting the Crisis

Egmont, like much of Canada, is facing a shortage of affordable housing. Despite the growing demand, our rate of home construction has not kept pace with population growth. This shortage has only worsened over the years, with current projections indicating little improvement in the near future. The root cause lies in bureaucratic obstacles and delays that hinder the construction process, driving up costs and limiting supply.

Proposed Solutions for Egmont: Addressing the Challenges

To address this pressing issue, we need proactive measures to incentivize home construction and remove barriers to affordability. Implementing policies that streamline approval processes, provide financial incentives for meeting housing targets, and repurpose unused federal land for housing are essential steps in the right direction. By prioritizing the needs of Egmont residents and working collaboratively with stakeholders, we can make significant strides in improving housing affordability in our community.

Advocating for Egmont's Housing Needs: A Call to Action

Egmont requires immediate attention to ensure that housing remains accessible to all residents. By advocating for policies that prioritize home construction and affordability, we can create a more inclusive and prosperous community for generations to come. It's time to address the housing crisis in Egmont with urgency and determination, placing the needs of our residents at the forefront of our efforts.
